Joanna CZECHOWSKA
Biography
Joanna P. Czechowska obtained her master's degree from the Faculty of Chemistry at Jagiellonian University in 2008 and pursued her second degree at the Faculty of Materials Science and Ceramics at AGH University of Krakow, completing it in 2009. In 2014, she successfully defended her PhD thesis at the Faculty of Materials Science and Ceramics, AGH University of Krakow. Her academic journey included valuable internships at prestigious institutions such as the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) at the Institute of Ceramics and Glass (ICV) in Madrid in 2009, the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, BarcelonaTech (UPC) in Barcelona in the same year, and more recently at MIT, Anna University in Chennai in 2023.
Presently, Joanna P. Czechowska holds a position at AGH University in Krakow, Poland. Actively engaged in various professional societies, she is a member of the European Society for Biomaterials, Polish Society for Biomaterials, and the European Ceramic Society. Her primary research focuses on the development and characterization of calcium phosphate-based biomaterials. This encompasses a broad spectrum, including sintered and chemically bonded materials, composites, and hybrids. . She participated in numerous international conferences and scientific training courses in the field of biomaterials science and implantology. Inter alia, she completed the XRD training course at Karlsruhe Training Center in Germany, as well as training and workshops on biomaterials in regenerative medicine in Germany, Sweden, Austria, and Poland.
Joanna P. Czechowska plays an active role in mentoring and guiding aspiring researchers. As a co-promoter of three doctoral theses and supervisor to over 20 bachelor's and master's theses. She received numerous awards from the Rector of AGH University of Krakow for her scientific and didactic activity. She has participated in 8 research projects financed from European and Polish funds.
