Prof. Dr.
Izabela-Cristina STANCU
National University of Science and Technology POLITEHNICA Bucharest / Advanced Polymer Materials Group (APMG)Biography
Izabela Cristina Stancu is Professor at the Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology within POLITEHNICA Bucharest and experienced principal investigator in the field of scaffolds design and development from concept to pre-clinical trials, with more than 20 years high-level interdisciplinary post-doctoral experience (in Romania and abroad) in biointeractions and advanced polymer materials mainly focused on polymer-based biomaterials and nanomaterials for tissue regeneration. Dr. Stancu has a PhD thesis on bioinspired synthetic polymer biomaterials for bone regeneration and the Habil. thesis on Engineering Bioinspired Hydrogels for Cell-Instructive Scaffolds and Surfaces.
In 2016, Dr. Stancu received the Award for „the most relevant contribution in the field of biomaterials in Romania” of the Romanian Society for Biomaterials (SRB)@ BiomMedD'2016. Moreover, she served as Vice-President of the Romanian Society for Biomaterials and as National representative of the Bioeconomy Group at ROHEALTH cluster, collaborating with key stakeholders from Romania and abroad in her field of research.
Expertise
Prof. Stancu developed extensive skills in hydrogels, electrospinning, development of 3D printing inks and scaffolds, biofunctionalization and optimization of interactions between nanostructures (often in situ synthesized) and host macromolecular matrix, porous scaffolds, smart biomaterials, nanoparticles.
