Radka GOREJOVÁ profile

RNDr. Radka Gorejová, PhD. holds an MSc and PhD in Physical chemistry and BSc in Chemistry. She finished her PhD in August 2022 and attended a 5-month postdoctoral research mobility from February to June 2023 in Czech Republic. She previously published a highly cited review paper entitled Recent advancements in Fe-based biomaterials for bone repair in the Journal of Material Science and other publications as author or co-author (according to Scopus, April 2025). The review paper describing the status in the field of iron degradable materials achieves today’s more than 130 citations. During her foreign stays and internships in Hungary, Austria and Czech Republic she also got familiar with the principles and methods of testing of the mechanical and biological properties of metallic materials which she implements into her scientific work comprised of more than 25 publications in Scopus (h-index 11). Beyond that, she has been a coordinator or investigator in various domestic Slovak or international projects. She coordinated a global project focused on biomaterial preparation, supported by the Visegrad Fund. Radka is also teaching Physical Chemistry I. and II. Labs, Macromolecular chemistry and supervising several bachelor and master students.

She is dealing with the preparation and study of biodegradable metals since her bachelor studies. She successfully defended her masters, rigorous and doctoral theses focused on the preparation on iron and zinc-based absorbable materials intended for use in orthopaedics. Her other research interests include electrochemistry, corrosion science, powder metallurgy, and metal-release activity. She is studying the influence of different metallic surface and bulk modifications (polymeric coatings, alloying e.g.) on the degradation properties of the prepared materials. The chemical composition of the solution used for corrosion testing was studied and evaluated as well. She has an extensive experience with the use of the electrochemical methods for modification and study of metallic materials and is currently focused on the electrochemical deposition of ceramic coatings onto metallic substrates.
