Nunzia GALLO
Biography
Nunzia Gallo graduated in Biological Sciences in 2015 (bachelor’s degree) with 110/110L and in Medical Biotechnologies and Nanotechnologies, curriculum: Tissue engineering (master’s degree) in 2017 at the University of Salento with 110/110L. In 2021 acquired the Ph.D. title in Engineering of Materials, Structures and Nanotechnologies at the University of Salento. Then she covered the position of research fellow (2021-2024), before that one of type A researcher (RTDa) of the Department of Engineering for Innovation of the University of Salento from 2024. She carries out research activities in the biomaterials sector for biomedical applications. In particular, she owns skills about the extraction and the processing of advanced materials of natural origin, the fabrication techniques of bi-/three- dimensional micro-/nano- structured systems and their chemical, physical, mechanical and biological characterization techniques. She carried out training and didactic activities, and she worked in team in several research projects, in collaboration with Companies and Research Institutions. The results of her scientific research activities were presented in various contexts, such as meetings, workshops, national and international conferences, besides being published in several research articles on well-known journals with a bio-engineering profile or in patents. Indeed, from 2018 to 2025, she co-authored more than peer reviewed publications with more than 1000 citations (Scopus data) and 16 natiornal and international conference paper. Recently, she obtained an european patent on the development of a bioink for extrusion 3D printing. Moreover, she is editor, guest editor and reviewer for several journals with a bio-engineering profile.
