ESB NEWSLETTER - WINTER 2015

Season Greetings

Dear Members and Friends of the ESB,

2015 has been another busy, but productive year for our Society and we are delighted to receive so many positive feedbacks and advice from you. We are particularly grateful to those of you who have already express their interest in renewing their membership in the new year; your trust and support is a great encouragement for the Council as we work hard to maintain high the reputation of the ESB.

I am particularly grateful to the National Societies and to their Presidents and Boards as they have embraced our vision for the future of the research and development in the biomaterial field. They fully supported our proposal to commission a Position Paper assessing the state of the art and bottlenecks for biomaterial research translation in Europe as well as mapping expertise and facilities across our continent. Early in the new year, you will receive, through your national societies and other recognised committees, a questionnaire aiming at collecting the data which will inform the report. We rely on your response to have a strong paper able to give visibility to our research and to draw the attention of sector stakeholders.

During the last meeting, the Council has launched the ESB 40th Anniversary Torch. This is an initiative to celebrate the 40 years of history of our Society that will occur in 2016. In this year of celebration, the National Societies will have the opportunity to host ESB-sponsored plenary lectures at their own conferences.

We look forward to this landmark in the history of our Society and will do our best to make sure that it will stay in our memories for long time.

In the meantime, on behalf of the whole Council, I would like to give you all our best wishes for peaceful holidays and for a successful 2016.

The ESB President
